Why fan balance matters
Extraction and intake fans need to work in balance — too much extraction relative to intake creates negative pressure that can pull odours through gaps; too little extraction lets heat and humidity build up. Fan balancer modules (like the Gavita FB1) let you offset intake fan speed relative to extraction, helping maintain stable, controlled pressure throughout your grow space.
AC vs EC fan control
AC (standard) fans and EC (electronically commutated) fans require different control modules — an AC fan controller like the Gavita EFM1 won't work with an EC fan, and vice versa. Always check your fan's type before purchasing a control module.
Temperature-responsive fan speed
Some controllers, like the Trolmaster BETA-2, adjust fan speed automatically based on real-time temperature readings — increasing airflow as heat rises, easing back as conditions cool, rather than running at a fixed speed regardless of actual need.
