Quick FAQ's

The things growers ask us most — shipping, returns, feeding and trade accounts. Can’t find it? Our team answers in under an hour.

What do I need to start growing indoors?

A basic indoor setup usually needs a suitable growing space or grow tent, a grow light, ventilation, air circulation, growing medium or hydroponic system, nutrients and basic environmental monitoring. Your exact setup will depend on the size of your space, what you’re growing and whether you choose soil, coco or hydroponics. Starting with a complete grow kit can make matching the individual components much easier.

What size grow light do I need?

Choose your grow light based primarily on the area you need to illuminate, rather than wattage alone. Check the manufacturer’s recommended coverage and, where available, PPFD or PAR maps. A light that is too weak can cause stretched, slow growth, while excessive intensity can stress plants. Matching the light to your tent or growing area is one of the most important decisions when building an indoor setup; lighting suitability is also one of the most common problems raised by first-time growers.

How do I choose the right nutrients?

Start by matching the nutrient to your growing method and plant stage. Soil, coco and hydroponic systems have different feeding requirements, and many nutrient ranges provide separate formulations or feeding schedules for different stages of plant development. For a first grow, keeping the nutrient programme simple is usually better than combining lots of boosters and additives immediately.

What causes root rot in hydroponics?

Root problems are often associated with a combination of warm nutrient solution, insufficient oxygen, poor cleanliness and light reaching the reservoir. Keep reservoirs and equipment clean, provide adequate aeration where your system requires it and prevent unnecessary light from reaching nutrient-rich water. Reservoir temperature is particularly important because warmer water holds less dissolved oxygen and can encourage unwanted biological growth. Root rot and algae are among the most frequently discussed troubleshooting problems in hydroponics communities

I’m completely new to growing — which setup should I buy?

Start with your available space and work backwards. Measure the area, decide how many plants you want to accommodate and choose your growing method. You can then match the grow tent, lighting, extraction, pots or hydroponic system and environmental equipment around those requirements. If you’re unsure, contact MaxGrow with your available space and budget and we can help you build a compatible setup rather than buying mismatched components.
